Designed in 1998 by Yuzuru Yamakawa (1933-2012), the Yamakawa lampshades reflect his great passion for rattan, a material he worked with for over 40 years. The lampshade's elegant lines reflect Yamakawa's Japanese roots, where in his work, he merged the elegant lines from Japan with traditional Indonesian craftsmanship in the finest way.
Many of his furniture pieces, including the Yamakawa lampshades are based on an open-lattice structure reminiscent of the Eiffel Tower. This approach enabled him to achieve remarkable strength while maintaining lightweight construction. The lampshades feature steel frames handwoven with Indonesia rattan, embodying both structural integrity and natural beauty.
The Yamakawa lampshade is part of Sika-Design's exclusive ICONS collection which represents an exclusive range of rattan furniture created by some of the world's most renowned designers and architects.
Available in 2 sizes H:75cm and H:125cm the 2 lampshades make a striking pair.
