Madeleine Castaing (1894–1992) was a legendary French decorator, tastemaker, and antique dealer who shaped the idea of “collected” Parisian interiors—mixing neoclassical pieces with daring stripes, animal prints, and lacquer. She adored the French Directory period (c. 1795–1799): refined, architectural furniture with classical lines and restrained ornament. After obtaining a cast-iron bench from her collection, Tectona developed a more durable, light weight version inspired by the time, creating a range for the home & commercial pages.
Tectona’s 1800 range channels French Directory elegance with slender aluminium profiles, a softly radiused backrest, and signature “nub” nodes at each junction. Crafted based on cast-iron crafts, made with aluminium for functionality. Finished in powder-coated tones, the iconic Blue-Grey reads luminous and airy, while Matte Black delivers graphic, contemporary contrast outdoors
