FERMOB PRODUCT CARE

To keep your Fermob furniture in the best possible condition, please respect the following instructions for use and maintenance.

UNWRAPPING PRODUCTS

Please take the greatest of care when unwrapping your furniture so as not to damage it in any way. Marks from knives and scissors, scratches from staples or from placing table tops on the ground, etc. are not covered under the Fermob warranty.

ASSEMBLY OF PRODUCTS

Tools and instructions are provided with products that require assembly. Please contact us if you require any further advice.

CLEANING FERMOB FURNITURE

Metal furniture can be cleaned using either clean water or water containing a non-detergent soap.

The furniture should then be wiped dry to remove any smears or traces of limescale.

Abrasive sponges should not be used to scrub the furniture, and no abrasive powders or other types of detergent should be used.

For dirt that is more heavily ingrained, you should use either a window-cleaning product that contains alcohol, or a multi-purpose cleaner.

For furniture incorporating both metal and outdoor technical fabric, the fabric should be cleaned with soapy water.

For ingrained dirt, you should use a brush and a specific product such as a multi-purpose cleaner.

We recommend that you clean off any traces of bird droppings as quickly as possible, as these can be particularly damaging and may lead to the permanent corrosion or staining of your furniture.

MAINTAINING FERMOB FURNITURE

All our products are delivered with pads that protect the furniture feet as well as floor surfaces. These pads prevent any degradation or damage to the feet resulting from contact with the ground, which can sometimes be damp or harsh. We recommend that you replace any lost pads by ordering a new set from your retailer.

Any scratches should be quickly treated using Fermob after-sales tools (such as touch-up pens and sprays in the colour of your furniture).

If rust begins to appear as a result of a scratch or bump, you should not sand it, but instead, repaint as quickly as possible the area using the appropriate Fermob retouch pen or aerosol spray. If rust develops on stainless-steel parts, then a polish (liquid or paste only) should be applied as soon as the first traces appear. The sooner action is taken, the less the rust will spread.

Some Fermob furniture includes wood treated with Textrol® to protect it from the weather. By its very nature, wood requires special care: a wood seal such as Textrol® should be regularly applied, with the prior application of a wood cleaner such as Net-Trol® if necessary.

Do not cover your furniture with a tarpaulin or plastic and avoid prolonged contact with any object that can hold water and humidity (such as flower pots, plate stands, etc.): in combination with heat, moisture can damage the appearance of the paint.

To prevent moisture retention, we recommend that you tilt tables (using wedges) and chairs (resting against the table and not placed upside down on them) when not in use.

Furniture that features OTF (outdoor technical fabric) should be protected from potential damage from contact with sharp objects or sources of heat such as cigarettes.

Due to the nature of the material used, iron furniture does not react well to highly saline environments. For coastal environments, we recommend our aluminium products.

The lifespan of your furniture will vary in relation to the conditions and type of use. To maximise the lifespan of your product, we recommend that you store it in a dry, well-ventilated place during the winter, and ensure it is protected from any knocks and bumps.

If you adhere to these instructions you will have much joie de vivre!

TECTONA PRODUCT CARE

HOW TO MAINTAIN YOUR TEAK OUTDOOR FURNITURE

It is strongly recommended that you wash your teak furniture once a year a with water and a little washing powder or soap to rid your furniture of impurities. Teak wood is an exceptional wood for all terrains and is able to withstand climatic variations. Due to its density and the oil it secretes, teak is rot proof. It does not need to be painted or oiled and is highly suitable for outdoor use all year round.

HOW TO PRESERVE THE ORIGINAL TEAK WOOD COLOUR

If your furniture has not ever been maintained and has become grey, we recommend that you clean it with Net Trol to get rid of impurities, stains, mould and previous treatments.   If your furniture has been maintained, we advise you to clean it with soapy water and a brush and then apply a layer of wood fixative that will delay the grey patina. This product will also be effective against stains (table top).

IS IT NECESSARY TO OIL OR VARNISH TEAK FURNISH?

Teak oil or linen oil are not necessary as the durability of your furniture will not be lengthened.

STAINS ON YOUR TEAK FURNITURE

Aqueous stains can be removed with large amounts of water while grease stains require the use of a textile stain remover.

DO YOU WANT YOUR OUTDOOR TEAK FURNITURE A GREY PATINA?

No treatment is needed, the teak will naturally age to a beautiful grey-silver hue.

HOW TO MAINTAIN YOUR ALUMINIUM FURNITURE

Maintenance is easy. Just a sponge with warm soapy water will suffice.

WHAT ARE THE ADVANTAGES OF ALUMINIUM FURNITURE?

Light and robust, this furniture is easy to move. Aluminium does not rust so it can be used in a relaxed manner by the sea. It is extremely resistant to abrasion.

IS IT POSSIBLE TO PAINT YOUR OUTDOOR FURNITURE?

To repaint your furniture, use exterior glyceride paint after applying a clean, dry surface primer.

SUNBRELLA CUSHION CARE ADVICE

All our Sunbrella cushions and mattress covers are specially designed to resist water, grease and UV rays. Easy to clean, these fabrics retain their colour over time.

HOW TO MAINTAIN AND CLEAN YOUR OUTDOOR CUSHIONS AND MATTRESSES.

Our Sunbrella fabrics are treated with an anti-stain water-repellent product and dyed all the way through.

Treat non-greasy stains by wetting and using a clean cloth to buff on the outside and wipe the underside dry. Never use detergent or household stain remover. To avoid leaving marks always buff from the outside to the centre of the stain

For greasy stains: buff before any application of stain remover. To avoid halo stains always buff from the outside to the centre of the stain.

Most of our covers are machine washable at 30 °C. Do not spin or tumble dry.

BATYLINE CUSHION CARE ADVICE

Batyline is an indeformable vinyl canvas that keeps its shape and is frequently used for outdoor prestige furniture. It is highly resistant to rot, mould and UV. Only cuts and cigarette burns will necessitate its replacement.

Use a soft brush to remove any ingrained dirt and then wash with soapy water. Rinse thoroughly and dry with a cloth. Leave to air dry.

If this fails to remove the stain you may try a spray on cleaning product for resins, after testing it on the underside first.

*solvents and detergents are to be avoided.

FERMOB WARRANTY

When we design our products, we pay special attention to three key aspects:

making sure the piece will continue to fulfil its intended purpose for years to come

anticipating how it will age as time passes

designing it so it is suited to our customers’ requirements

Fermob’s structural warranty means that products will remain fit for the purpose for which they were designed. The structural warranty covers all functional aspects of the product such as welding, fasteners, rivets, and folding.

Fermob’s finish warranty covers premature and abnormal deterioration in the appearance of the product’s materials, such as fading. The speed at which a product ages depends on how carefully it is treated by customers. Please read the Maintenance and Care section so you know how to care for and maintain the products.

WARRANTY BY RAW MATERIALS

Structural Warranty: aluminium 3 years, steel products 2 years

Finish Warranty: aluminium 2 years, steel products 1 years

Fermob has developed many types of products for use in specific settings. To maintain the warranty the products must be used in the location or use for which they were designed. Products designed and manufactured for the domestic /residential consumer are not warranted for use in commercial settings.

The warranty begins from the original purchase date and is at the manufacturer’s sole discretion. Any claim must be supported by purchase receipt and photos.

THE WARRANTY DOES NOT COVER

• Damaged, converted, or modified furniture.

• Furniture not used as per Fermob’s recommendations.

• Any damage arising from insufficient care, or from failure to comply with the supplied instructions and advice for receiving, assembling, using, and maintaining the furniture.

• Furniture should NOT be stored using plastic or any other material trapping moisture on the product.

• Rings or stains (including stains related to a combination of humidity retention + heat, organic materials such as bird droppings, sap, food or leaves).

• General wear and tear or natural fading of the materials used.

• Corrosion originating from scratches or abrasions that result from general wear and tear and which cannot be removed via standard cleaning and maintenance processes.

• Minor spots of rust under table tops and seats or on bases. This is a natural outcome expected on products made of steel and can be treated using the maintenance tools made available to customers by Fermob. This treatment should not be delayed or rust will worsen.

• The corrosion of stainless steel parts due to use in a confined, chlorinated environment.

• Corrosion of steel furniture (including stainless steel furniture) as a result of use in a coastal environment.

• Any changes in the visual appearance of wood that are directly linked to ageing. As wood is a living material, the appearance of its surface changes naturally over time.

• Corrosion originating from scratches or abrasion resulting from general wear and tear and which cannot be removed via standard cleaning and maintenance processes.

ACCESSORIES

Like its furniture, Fermob accessories (cushions, etc.) are designed to last, based on a careful selection of materials:

• Acrylic textiles and PVC are guaranteed for 2 years against UV, wear and tear, mould, and tearing.

• Metal accessories ie. Alto tray and Trefle trivet are covered by the same warranty terms and exclusions as items of furniture.

Deterioration caused by failure to observe storage and maintenance instructions is not covered by the warranty.

This warranty begins from the original purchase date and is at the manufacturer’s sole discretion. Any claim must be supported by the purchase receipt and photos.

TECTONA WARRANTY

Treat it with respect and you will be rewarded with beautiful furniture for many years to come.
