OUR SUSTAINABILITY STATEMENT

A Commitment to Cleaner Curation

At Classic with a Twist, we believe that timeless design and environmental responsibility should go hand-in-hand. As a leading curator of premium international furniture and local custom pieces, our mission is to bring thoughtfully crafted pieces to the Australian market, pieces that not only elevate your project but also reflect our deep respect for the planet.

Our commitment to sustainability starts with the choices we make in the brands we represent. Every product in our collection is chosen not just for its beauty, quality, and functionality; but for the environmental integrity behind its creation. That’s why we exclusively partner with global pioneers in sustainable design: Fermob (France), Sika-Design (Denmark), Tectona Paris (France), and NOROCK (Australia).

Fermob

Fermob exemplifies the harmony of bold design and environmental innovation. From their 100% recyclable metals and non-toxic powder coatings to their zero-waste paint lines and recycled packaging, Fermob’s manufacturing practices are a blueprint for circular design. They are ISO 14001 certified and proudly hold Gold recognition from the Sustainable Furnishings Council; affirming their leadership in eco-friendly furniture and strong history within the industry

Sustainable Furnishings Council Gold Member

In 2017, Fermob received Gold Exemplary Recognition, one of the highest honours awarded for sustainable business practices in the furnishings industry.

ISO14001 Certified

Fermob’s production facility has held this prestigious environmental management certification since 2009. It is a testament to their long-term commitment to sustainability.

Recyclable Materials

Fermob primarily uses steel and aluminium; materials known for their strength, durability, and recyclability. These metals are among the most reused in the world, ensuring Fermob furniture can be fully recycled at the end of its life cycle.

Zero-Waste Painting

Since 1996, Fermob has used a solvent-free, powder coating system that eliminates harmful emissions. The process captures and recycles all excess powder, saving approximately 8 tons of paint annually.

Energy Efficiency

Over the years, Fermob has reduced oven temperatures by 50°F and now reuses heat from the paint process; resulting in a 10% reduction in energy use.

Water-Free Waste Management

Since 2017, Fermob has proudly operated without industrial water discharge, further limiting its environmental impact and protecting vital ecosystems.

Recycled & Recyclable Packaging

Fermob participates in France’s Eco-Emballages program. Their products are packaged with recycled materials, reducing the need for cardboard and one-time-use materials well after the manufacturing process.

Sika-Design

With a legacy rooted in craftsmanship and natural materials, Sika-Design produces furniture that celebrates the beauty and utility of rattan, one of the most sustainable raw materials available. Hand-harvested and manually shaped rattan furniture from Sika-Design is not only biodegradable but also incredibly durable. Their use of recyclable aluminium and a commitment to longevity and repair make their furniture both elegant and ethical.

ISO14001 Certified

Together with their sister company, Sika-Design formed among the first furniture companies in Denmark to obtain an ISO 14001 certification, acknowledging their commitment to environmental management.

Eco-Friendly Growth

Rattan grows like lianas around trees in the Indonesian rainforest, absorbing CO₂ and producing up to 35% more oxygen than ordinary trees. It regenerates within 5 to 7 years, making it one of the world's fastest-growing materials for furniture manufacturing.

Longevity & Handcrafted Excellence

Their priority is to manufacture quality furniture that can last for generations with strong materials and reenforced designs, reducing the need for frequent replacements. Rattan is harvested by hand, and can be shaped using traditional techniques and simple tools.

Utilise Waste In Production

Sika-Design utilise rattan waste as fuel in their steam ovens, maximising resource efficiency.

Material Durability

Unlike hollow bamboo, rattan is solid and highly durable, allowing it to be shaped into various quality and durable designs.

Recyclability

Sika focus on ensuring that the materials used are recyclable and that our furniture can be taken apart after use and sorted into clean recyclable materials. Reuse is also highly valuable to the range, repair videos rather than moving pieces to waste and replacing.

Eco-Friendly Packaging & Logistics

Sika-Design logistics are designed to reduce environmental impact, ensuring that our furniture reaches customers with the least possible carbon footprint - Arriving in recyclable materials.

Tectona

Specialising in heirloom-quality outdoor furniture, Tectona is known for using responsibly sourced teak, larch from non-endangered species, and recyclable aluminium. Their hand-crafted joinery techniques minimise waste and maximise durability. Their emphasis on restoring and refurbishing existing furniture speaks volumes about their dedication to reducing environmental impact over time.

Furniture Maintenance & Aftercare

Embracing the philosophy of "restore rather than discard," Tectona offer comprehensive aftercare information and services - From refreshing your piece, to new parts and repairs. Repair over replace.

Eco-Friendly Material Selection

Prioritising natural, recycled, and recyclable materials in their designs.

Sustainable Sourcing

Selecting woods like larch that are abundant and not at risk of extinction, as part of their commitment to Environmental Stewardship.

Traditional Joinery

Manual Weaving

Tectona’s woven resin furniture is crafted by hand, creating durable meshes that withstand the test of time.
